What Is Energy Healing?
The one thing that is most definitely universal amongst all of us is energy. Influencing this flow of energy by implementing physical and mental awareness and intention, can bring about profound and replicable results. Through meditation, physical touch, and exercise our energy bodies can be altered to provide higher states of health, consciousness and, energy. Depending on the method, energy healing focuses on the life force that flows through all of us; that force that dictates our mood, health, energy, and ability to connect with other beings.
Many people have heard of Reiki before but perhaps you might not know what it’s all about?
There are many forms of energy healing, and one of the most commonly understood practices is Reiki. Reiki is a form of energy work that is carried out through the hands after a person has been attuned (introduced) to the universal life force energy. The practice was developed to help people realize the importance of making an intentional effort to heal and be conscious of their health.
Reiki is often the first form of energy healing that a person experiences. In fact, it’s probably the most recognized and widely accepted form of energy healing. It’s considered an alternative healing modality and to many, a spiritual practice.
The International Association of Reiki Professionals defines Reiki as a spiritual healing art - offering beneficial calming, balancing and stress reducing effects.
From another standpoint, as one of our Reiki Masters Lisa D’Arrigo puts it, “Reiki can be referred to simply as love. That Reiki is a pure stream of love. Pure love energy.” This resonates with all of us at AEC quite strongly, and many people experience all of the above when receiving Reiki.
“Reiki is translated from Japanese ‘Rei’ which means universal, spiritual, sacred, divine. And ‘Ki’ which means vital energy, life force energy, prana, chi, the energy that flows through everything.”
- Lisa Guyman, Reiki Master and Teacher
Reiki comes from universal life force energy. It is source energy. The Reiki practitioner has been attuned to Reiki 1, Reiki 2 or Reiki Master level (by a Reiki Master Teacher) and they act as a channel for this divine life force energy to flow through the universe and into others.
Often called a hollow bone
in shamanic circles - Reiki flows through the practitioner from source and through the hands to the receiver. Life force energy, Prana, Chi, Source Energy, Vital Energy are all terms used interchangeably when referring to Reiki.
IS REIKI RELIGIOUS?
Ok, so if Reiki is a spiritual practice - it can also be said that not all Reiki practitioners are spiritual, or share their spirituality openly. One question some people may ask when they first encounter Reiki is whether it’s a religion, although it is not.
Reiki is not religious. You don’t need to believe anything or worship in any specific way, go to a church, have a religious or spiritual belief system or be devoted to a deity. Reiki is entirely non-denominational. However, for many, Reiki is considered spiritual. A spiritual art. A spiritual and sacred practice.
It’s all about the energy. And everything is energy.
Infused with Reiki
Once Reiki practitioners are attuned by a Reiki Master Teacher, they are able to share Reiki, the universal energy. The Reiki healer sends Reiki out through the hands, and can send it to people, places, trees, plants, food, rocks, crystals, computers …whatever the healer intends to send energy to.
How? Reiki is a beautiful practice in its loving simplicity. It’s powerful. It’s love and light. Reiki enhances and re-balances energies. And it’s supremely versatile.
As Reiki masters and energy practitioners of many modalities, it’s part of who we are and how we live. It’s a strong belief of ours that everything is energy and from that belief we intuitively know that everything can benefit from an infusion of universal life force energy. That everything can benefit from an infusion of Reiki. It just makes sense.
Here’s how Reiki Master Lisa D’Arrigo puts it, “as humans we all need oxygen to breathe right?" She suggests that you can think of Reiki like that boost of oxygen. It infuses things with life energy. That Universal life force energy that allows us to thrive and shine. Even inanimate objects. Because of course that is all energy too. And so infusing an object with energy is kind of like giving it a boost.
Crystals and Reiki
As crystals and Reiki are formed on the basis of naturally occurring elements in our universe, when paired together for healing, they work so powerfully. Crystals are used alongside Reiki to prompt the mind, body, spirit and soul to heal. Some Reiki practitioners combine crystals with their practice. This can be used for healing or to clear a space and protect it. This ability to improve the energy of a space is why crystals are often seen in gorgeous pieces of interior decor.
Sometimes you’ll find crystals and stones that have been engraved with Reiki symbols. Then there are also crystal wands, pyramids, palm stones and other tools that can be used to direct energy in a ritual, ceremony or an energetic healing session. These are just a few of many possible examples for combining crystal healing and Reiki.
Reiki jewelry & Why it’s Beneficial
You are probably starting to see why it can be beneficial to infuse objects with Reiki. Specifically objects that you wear frequently for long periods of time.
The process may be called Awakening, Infusing, Imbuing, Reiki Charged, Cleaning, or Cleansing, but often these terms are used interchangeably.
When you infuse an object or person with Reiki, it can:
• Cleanse & Clear
• Release Energetic Attachments
• Dispel Negativity
• Magnify Healing Power
• Infuse Love & Light
• Awaken Inherent Healing Properties
Sending Reiki to an object, especially an object that already has innate healing vibrations, like crystals and gemstones, can increase their healing effectiveness and awaken the inherent healing properties that are already part of their makeup.
Infusing Crystals and Stones with Reiki intensifies the energies and healing powers they emit. It actually 'charges' objects with protective, positive energy and increases the effectiveness of the crystal's natural healing vibrations. It’s an extra level of activation that can also instill the piece with the energies of love and universal life force energy. Reiki infused jewelry can then be given as a gift to someone who needs a bit of a boost or to yourself when you need an extra dose of healing and self-love.
Adding the complementary art of Reiki to an already powerful healing crystal makes the two together a powerhouse in helping to heal your physical, emotional and spiritual body by speeding up the healing process. Instilling the jewelry with the energy of love, gratitude, light and healing energizes that piece with the intention to serve your highest good and the good of all those around you.
With respect to crystal jewelry or any jewelry that we wear for extended periods of time and therefore have in our energy fields, it’s especially beneficial. Any vibration (and crystal jewelry has its own vibration), that is in your energy field will subtly influence your aura - your own energy body. That’s part of the reason that crystal jewelry is so popular and has long been a part of crystal healing.
And the results of layering these energies? Well, it’s one of the reasons that we like to work with essential oils, crystals and Reiki. All being methods of vibrational healing, for years we have found that working with oils and crystals together gets more profound results than working with just one or the other alone. It’s layering on the healing energies and allowing them to build on each other. In this way, we always find that the sum is greater than its parts - that layering the vibrational healing energies has a more powerful impact.
