For all of us here at AEC, improving our balance and harmony with the universe is something we're always working to improve. Over the years we've noticed that as soon as we seem to be getting a handle on things, something changes seemingly out of the blue bringing challenges and disruption to our life. Yay.

After more than enough times of looking in the mirror and screaming, "WTH!" we began to see a pattern. These shifts almost always aligned with either the moon phases or an astrological shift. As we began to take note of these events and adjust our spiritual growth and self-care routines around them there was a new shift, progress!

We finally began seeing the consistent growth we wanted. It felt like our spiritual journey had finally started for real. And while it was just a new beginning, it also felt like an end. The end of an old lifestyle and belief system we had been trying to shed for years.

After continuing this practice for awhile we started thinking about how we could improve it. What if we could plan a detailed breakdown of the best practices for each zodiac season on a week by week basis? So we asked our teacher, Akashic Astrologer Jeremy R. Werner, if he would be willing to give us his astrology insight and he said yes!

We loved it so much we wanted to share it with all of you, so here it is!

Agreat mountain looms before you. You puzzle about how to reach its peak as you feel the force of an inner drive to initiate the climb. You prepare and ready yourself for the inevitable success of your task. You anticipate the exhilaration of viewing the world from the summit, yet proceed with caution, planning, discipline and an austerity that will keep you on the path. You bide your time, taking one step at a time, securing your position with aplomb. You know that you will endure any hardships along the way… Such is the character of Capricorn, the Sign of the Goat.

Each of us has Capricorn somewhere in our natal chart, and where Capricorn is posited, we seek to lead, accomplish and fulfill our ambitions. The Goat advises us that persistence, sober determination and endurance promise the resolution of our challenges. So, what is your looming mountain? What are your goals? What do you seek to accomplish to build your confidence and public reputation? These are questions to ponder during this time.

Tigers Eye is a Stone Ally par excellence for getting you to the finish line! This powerful totem imbues the carrier with confidence, purpose and courage while ensuring mental clarity, objectivity and direction. Take time this month to brainstorm about your direction for the next year. Prioritize your goals and make a concrete plan. Then, pay homage to

your purpose by lighting a candle that symbolizes the light emerging from the darkness. Hold a Tigers Eye between your palms at the level of your Solar Plexus chakra (between your navel and chest) with your fingers pointing forward. This mudra combined with the power of the stone will help to project your will into reality and start you on your climb to the top. Remember, Capricorn is a time of practical application, so act on your ideas with resolve and consistency, one day at a time.

Astro Aspects

The Sun’s ingress into Capricorn marks the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere – the time of greatest darkness and the beginning of a new cycle of light that culminates at the Summer Solstice. Thus, the Winter Solstice chart depicts the qualities of the coming year and forecasts the unfolding of world trends.

The Great Mutation & the Dawn of a New Era

Jupiter and Saturn together are known as “The Great Chronocrator” or “Markers of Time,” and whenever they join, society at large undergoes a significant transformation. At this year’s Winter Solstice, we welcome the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in the first degree of Aquarius. Not only does this mark the beginning of a new 20-year cycle (the time it takes for Jupiter to conjunct Saturn again), it also begins a series of conjunctions in a new Sign element. This is known as a Great Mutation which occurs about every 200 years. What makes this year even more potent is that this Great Mutation is in the Air element, marking a new 800-year cycle!

With the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in Aquarius squaring Uranus in Taurus, we are now transitioning into a new reality characterized by the need for greater freedom, revolution, social justice and collaboration on a collective scale. Civil unrest is most likely as an emphasis on independence and individuality leads to the struggle against strict controls. New technologies will emerge, as will the demand for real information. New social systems and structures will be needed as old, repressive ways fall away. A shift from materialism to creative and intellectual values is imminent. Clearly, we are at the Dawn of a New Era!

Black Kyanite can be a potent talisman for anyone seeking to evolve consciousness through changing times. It opens and clears all of the primary chakras and offers a strong protective field to keep you within your own integrity and purpose. It can also be used to link one to past memories and even past lives to clear inner blocks and clarify one’s current path and direction. In a simple ceremony in Nature, stand facing the Sun while holding a piece of Black Kyanite. Ask to connect with the Spirit of the Stone and breathe deeply as you feel the presence of your Stone Ally. Then, hold the stone by each chakra in turn, from the Root to the Crown, and feel it opening and balancing the chakras. Finish by lying the stone on the ground and connecting with the Earth. Ask Mother Earth to ground you and feel old energies releasing. Breathe in the sunlight and fill your whole body with it. Close your eyes and now feel how this ignites a new beginning.

Mercury conjunct Sun in Capricorn trine Uranus in Taurus and square Chiron in Aries

Through this coming season and year, we are called to align the mind and thought with purpose, to have a plan and to pursue it diligently, practically and step-by-step. As the plan unfolds, remember that success and accomplishment involve change, moving from what was to what is and is becoming. Uranus brings unexpected changes that can support the fulfillment of our purpose while also challenging us to relinquish control and attachment to what is no longer needed. With the asteroid Chiron in the picture, these changes will confront us with our inner resistance and reveal our deepest wounds. Yet, the Wounded Healer also brings us the means to heal these wounds and reminds us that conscious grieving is what cleanses and renews us.

Apache Tears is a form of obsidian that can catalyze the healing process and help one to move through grief. It also provides the necessary protection to venture into one’s own depths. A crystal grid including Apache Tears, Green Tourmaline and Pink Kunzite offers a powerful field to clarify and uplift the mind, appease a troubled Heart and grant the courage to move on. Place four Apache Tears in a square and sit in the middle with the Green Tourmaline in one hand and Pink Kunzite in the other. Settle into your Heart Center and feel your way into your inner world. Explore where you carry pain that needs to be released before you can start anew. Seek to soften any resistance or defense and welcome the changes. Your Inner Self holds the answers that you need if you are willing to listen.

Nodal Axis square Neptune with the Moon conjunct Neptune

The influence of the Nodal Axis squaring Neptune described in the Sagittarius report continues to challenge us to discern fact from fiction. Its effect peaks around January 5 and will continue to unfold through the rest of January and into February. Continue to pursue your spiritual path and commit to regular meditation during this time.

In the Winter Solstice chart, the Moon is conjunct Neptune in Pisces so we may get lost in feeling and need to find our way out of the inner emotional labyrinth rooted in the past.

Black Moonstone keeps one grounded and stable while exploring the inner emotional landscape. It also opens one to new levels of intuition and psychic ability and supports receptivity to the synchronicity of life. Try placing a Black Moonstone under your pillow at night and ask your Guides to appear to you in your dreams. Upon waking, make notes of any feelings, images or impressions. Look for the appearance of any dream symbols during your waking life and see how these carry messages from your Guides.
